It has finally stopped raining in northern New Jersey, and not a minute too soon. I felt as if we had been living in Seattle, Washington instead of the Garden State. But after a pleasant Friday evening spent on the deck and having our first grilled pizza of the season, we decided we would leave early Saturday morning for our first day at the beach--or
go down the shore as we say in New Jersey.

And what a glorious day it was. Not a rain cloud to be seen. Nothing but pure blue sky dotted with an occasional para-sailor or white streaks of condensation from unseen jets or those ubiquitous prop planes pulling their advertisements behind them. The early morning chilly breeze soon gave way to a pleasant heat and a lovely day at the beach.
I pray every day that I live fully and joyfully, and this weekend I accomplished just that.

What a lovely day! We still have the rain - yawn. I haven't seen a plane pulling an advert for a very, very long time. I like your reading nook very much.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Kath. Every weekend should be this pleasant. Hope all is well with you and yours.
ReplyDeleteLooks beautiful! I need a hot dog now. And the beach, of course!
ReplyDeleteAlways the beach.
DeleteOh how I wish I lived close to the seashore. What a wonderful day you had. Food always tastes better at the beach, in a backyard, on a deck doesn't it?
ReplyDeleteTher is something about summer food eaten outdoors, isn't there?
DeleteWonderful your sunshine has arrived just before we officially begin summer. Your grilled pizza looks fabulous and your reading nook an absolutely lovely space. You seem to be right on schedule for living fully and joyfully, Michele.
ReplyDeleteThanks,Denise;it was a lovely weekend. Today begins the real New Jersey summer weather--hot and humid--a typical N.J. summer day.
ReplyDeleteI am captivated by the first photo--I'd love to spend a day at the 'shore. thanks for sharing your summer fun--your gratitude for these simple pleasures is clear.
ReplyDeleteWe are fortunate to be going with our friends to their home at the shore tomorrow for the rest of the week. Aah.
